参考范文 Every time we focus on the key solution to current environmental problems, some tend to stress that what we have to do is give up our high-quality and non-environmentally friendly lifestyle, for ensuring that our future generation will still have some natural resources for surviving. In my mind, this statement is excessively pessimistic and short-sighted.
To begin with, those conservative environmentalists believe that our good life quality heavily relies on the consumption of non-renewable natural resources such as fossil fuels, and if we indulge in using them, they will be used up one day, and our offspring will merely face the crisis of natural resources. In fact, their worry is imaginary since they obviously overlook the significant variable, technology. An instance in point is that a few hundred years ago, people on whaling fleets were confused about what would light up cities after they killed all whales in the sea.

Therefore, what we need to pass down to future generations is not natural resources that they may rely on or may not, but we should leave them our technology and our spirit of innovation. Nowadays, more and more countries are approaching to the balanced point between economic development and environmental protection. This implies that we are capable of using technology to improve our life standards without contaminating the environment. Besides, take my country as an example, cutting-edge technology is being utilized for changing the desert into grassland, purifying streams and rivers, and producing alternative energy.
In conclusion, what later generations exactly need for surviving is unknown for us, but we are sure that technology is the key for them to gain what they want. Thus, current generation’s accepting a so-called eco-friendly lifestyle for humans’ future is unnecessary and meaningless.
